Enshi Yulu Tea is one of China's top ten famous teas, produced in Enshi City, Hubei Province. It is a green tea known for its unique steamed processing method, similar to Japanese Sencha and Gyokuro. This process preserves the tea’s natural green color and fresh flavor, giving it a bright green liquor, a refreshing taste, and distinct bean and chestnut aroma.

Characteristics of Enshi Yulu:

  1. Unique Processing: Uses a steamed fixation process rather than the common pan-firing method, preserving the tea’s freshness.
  2. Appearance: The dry leaves are slender, needle-like, and bright green.
  3. Aroma: Offers a chestnut-like and bean fragrance, with a light, sweet scent.
  4. Taste: The tea liquor is clear and bright, with a smooth, sweet, and umami-rich flavor that lingers.
  5. Rich in Selenium: Enshi is known as the "World Selenium Capital," and Enshi Yulu tea contains organic selenium, which has health benefits.

How to Brew Enshi Yulu Tea:

  1. Water Temperature: Around 85°C (185°F) to preserve its delicate flavor.
  2. Tea Ware: Glass cups or white porcelain gaiwans are recommended to fully appreciate the tea's color and movement.
  3. Tea-to-Water Ratio: Use about 3 grams of tea per 200-250 ml of water.
  4. Brewing Method:
    • Use a three-step pouring technique: First, pour a small amount of water to awaken the leaves, gently swirl, then fill up to about 70% full, allowing the tea leaves to gradually unfurl.
